CANCELLATION POLICY
Publicly Scheduled Tours and Rentals:
We require a 48-hour minimum notice for full refund of advance bookings for our public tours and rentals. Any cancellation made inside of 48 hours is subject to a 20% late cancellation fee, but is otherwise refundable (equivalent of an 80% refund). This also applies to all bookings made within 48 hours of the event.
There is a 24-hour minimum notification policy for rescheduling. Rescheduling inside of 24 hrs is at the discretion of Wateriders. Any bookings originally rescheduled within this window are subject to the 20% late cancellation fee for any subsequent cancellation.
No-shows to public tours or rentals will not be refunded or rescheduled.
All tours and rentals are subject to postponement or cancellation due to weather at any time up until the scheduled tour time. We have final say on whether or not we will run the tour based on the weather conditions. We offer complimentary rescheduling or a refund if your tour is cancelled or postponed by us, for any reason. We try our best to give our guests ample notice of cancellations to prevent unnecessary commuting inconveniences, however, the erratic weather patterns of Chicago can force us to make more last-minute considerations.
All tours and rentals are subject to postponement or cancellation due to low registration and staffing issues. This is extremely rare, and we will do our best to avoid these situations.
Cancellations due to low registration will be made at least 24 hours in advance, and notifications will be sent to the phone number and email address that we have on file for bookings. Staffing issues normally (but almost never) arise in cases of emergency for the guide(s) assigned, making it impossible for us to provide a standard advance notification window.
We are not responsible for guests who do not see cancellation notifications in time. We do our best to make an attempt to reach out via 2 forms of communication, with at least one in writing. We are not responsible for missed notifications due to typos on phone numbers and email addresses entered into our booking system by the guest.
We can issue refunds, upon request, for parking charges to guests if we made the decision to cancel their trip after they have parked, provided they have parked in our listed garage that we can validate for (360 W Hubbard Place).
Private Tours and Events:
Private tours have a 72-hour minimum notice required for full refund, as they require additional logistics and considerations on our end. Cancellation requests within the 72-hour window are subject to the 20% late cancellation fee (equal to the required deposit).
When calculating the final bill for private tours and events, upon request, we can allow for one no show, plus one additional no show per 10 participants, before we begin charging the 20% late cancellation fee. For example, if 24 people are signed up for the tour, that means that we can credit you for up to 3 unused tickets (2 blocks of ten people plus the 1 “base” person”). The 4th unused ticket (and beyond) would be charged for 20% of the ticket price.
All private tours and events are subject to postponement or cancellation due to weather complications. We reserve the right to make the final decision on whether or not to run the tour in the event of weather-related cancellation considerations.
We can work with private groups to find a backup date in case of weather complications, and we can also agree on a notification window in advance.
